Teamwork is the hallmark of any successful company and is the modus operandi between friends looking for the benefit of the group or organization above personal interests.

Teamwork is not limited only to business or economic interests, families, nonprofit organizations, relief agencies, religious and charitable organizations or surveillance also use it with great success.

Being a man sociable by nature is understood that teamwork should be very common and accepted. However it is not so, for the Traditional Education is oriented to be competitive, independent and to do self-sufficient individuals who can work best solitary or being part of a hierarchical and bureaucratic organization as those companies that still prevail in traditional style.

Teamwork is primarily a process composed of free cooperation of competent and talented individuals seeking a common goal and that because of the union of their contributions cause a potential synergy of maximizing the use of time and profits.

This type of work between groups of people are especially characterized by the following three characteristics:

1. It´s an inclusive process:

This means that no one should be left out of the group and their job or work no matter how small contributes to the welfare and achievement of the entire organization.

2 It´s cooperative:

Teamwork seeks cooperation with all members. This does not mean dependence on each other is created. However it is expected that any active member of the team respond with contributions that will be valued and applied in achieving common goals.

3. It´s not coercive:

It means there is no hierarchy among the participants although it is respected above all leadership by example of the most devoted members. And this especially because in companies or traditional hierarchical organizations working conditions are imposed by the authority regulations, sanctions and expulsions, which at no time is the sign of a coordinated and efficient work team, but of the fulfillment of a labor obligatory activity that of not be doing since is waited it will have consequences for the offenders.

But teamwork is governed by certain well-defined and precise principles to guide the activities of each member towards a common goal. These principles are:

1. Provide a purpose or an exciting goal and values ​​that are respected among group members. An exciting target.

2. Join skills and knowledge. Developing the skills of the working group.

  • Improved identification of business opportunities for the sharpness of ideas that produce a committed interdisciplinary group.
  • Provides the ability to learn new ways to develop their own work incorporating new methods that come from the contributions and experiences of the team.
  • Received professional awards and learn to recognize the efforts and contributions made by other team members.
  • It learns to consider the skills of other team members but not essential. This allows to remove the zeal of limelight avoiding rivalries.
  • Better economic performance and lower mental and physical wear working that working alone.
  • The interpersonal communication is improved looking for points of agreement with the persons to come to solutions, without need to defend a point of view extreme or to try to impose it.
  • Facilitates decision making by considering a larger number of views from different professional experiences and knowledge of a team against one person.
  • A synergy of talents and abilities is created between the team members, allowing each can specialize in one task or mission according to their experience and professional skills, thus working with less stress and more success in complex and difficult tasks given.

The following is a practical guide and dynamic work strategies based on the three principles outlined above will allow the construction of the team as well as their monitoring and control:

1. Provide a purpose or an exciting goal and values ​​that are observed between the group of members.

  • To design a challenge, a reason in order that the equipment works for that people compromise themselves and are motivated to working together.
  • To mark a few aims and a few clear and motivating strategies.

  • Insist that members or team members do things best.

  • Have a sense of belonging.
  • Have integrity and honesty.
  • Competent on a professional level, can be formally educated, technically or empirical.
  • That they like to work with people.
  • To be reasonably ambitious to find the group’s progress.
  • Who are empathetic and want to teach others.
  • They are willing to commit to the project and team work long term.
  • Who want to lead, but if it is true in teams can come people who are not interested in leading, but through their work, knowledge, dedication and example results also can provide great inspiration for all group members.

And finally, education and training must be consistent in all team members.
